Vaughn Urges Connolly to Support Right to Work
Individual Liberty Demands that Companies Have a Right to Relocate
Woodbridge, VA – Constitutional conservative and Republican candidate for Virginia’s 11th congressional district Ken Vaughn today announced his support for the H.R. 2587, the Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act, sponsored by freshman Rep. Tim Scott (R-SC). The bill was introduced in response to a stunning complaint issued by President Obama’s National Labor Relations Board against Boeing, which has built a plant in Charleston, SC, a right-to-work state.
“Our country was founded on the principles of individual liberty and limited government,” said Vaughn. “These principles allowed America to become the most prosperous and powerful country on earth, but our government has increasingly become involved in every aspect of our lives. The National Labor Relations Board is now preventing Boeing from relocating its plant on the basis that the new location is a right-to-work state – this is an outrage. America competes in a global marketplace; if we refuse to allow our companies to freely make competitive business decisions, we will continue to see our jobs go overseas.”
“But Congressman Connolly should not only support this bill because it is good for America, he should support it because it is good for Virginia and the 11th District. Virginia is a right-to-work state; this gives Virginia a competitive advantage and will encourage firms to relocate to our state. Congressman Connolly’s failure to support this bill will prevent firms from moving their operations to Virginia and will deny the citizens of Virginia access to high-paying jobs. Congressman Connolly should not allow his close ties to labor union bosses jeopardize the economic health of America, Virginia, and the 11th District. Virginia’s families deserve better.”
“The rights of unions to organize and protest do not negate the rights of business to make appropriate business decisions in response to prevailing conditions.”
