Vaughn Supports Cut, Cap and Balance Act

Vaughn Supports Cut, Cap and Balance as Plan to Reduce Spending
Plan is only Serious plan offered; urges rep. Connolly to Support

July 19, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Reston, VA – Republican candidate for Virginia’s 11th congressional district Ken Vaughn today announced his support for the H. 2560, the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act of 2011.

“While the bill is far from perfect, this is the only proposal on the table that will allow us to avoid a default in both the near and long-term and begin to set America on a fiscally responsible path,” said Vaughn

“Congressman Connolly has been part of the problem in Washington, talking a good game about fiscal responsibility, but irresponsibly voting for trillions in new spending that was borrowed from places like China while our children and grandchildren will have to pay,” said Vaughn. “Congressman Connolly has a chance now to support a real, tangible plan to reduce spending today, cap future spending, and increase the debt ceiling conditionally once the balanced budget amendment has been passed and sent to the states.  More talk from Congressman Connolly will not help America avert a debt crisis like what we’ve seen in Greece.  Virginians have had enough of his talk – it is time for real leadership on the debt issue.  Congressman Connolly has failed to lead, when I am in Congress, I will.”
