Ken Vaughn Announces Run for Congress

Ken Vaughn Announces Run for Congress
January 22, 2011
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Reston, VA - January 22, 2011 - Ken Vaughn, an internationally recognized traffic engineer and founder of Northern Virginia 912, a TEA Party group, formally announced his intent to run in the 2012 Republican primary for a U.S. House of Representatives seat today.

Ken Vaughn lives in Virginia's 10th District currently represented by Frank Wolf (R), but with redistricting occurring this year, he may be has been redistricted into either the 8th, Jim Moran (D) or the 11th, where he will face Gerry Connolly (D).

Ken’s major concern is the national debt and the unwillingness of either party to take seriously the challenges facing this country. Ken states, "Over the last 30 years, we have borrowed $13 trillion from our children without any plan to pay it back. This has occurred regardless of which party controlled the House, Senate, or Presidency. Both parties are to blame for this mess, and neither party has a plan to get us out of it."

Ken agrees with the national financial experts that our current path is "unsustainable," and that is why he believes we need to cut spending - not by 5 to 10%, as suggested by recent Republican and Democrat proposals, but by 30 to 40%. "It is simple math -- you cannot eliminate our debt, or even balance our budget with the spending cuts currently being discussed in Washington. It is our moral duty to our children to eliminate this debt in our lifetime."

Vaughn for Congress is the campaign committee to elect Ken Vaughn to the U.S. House of Representatives.
