Federal election law prohibits contributions from corporations, labor organizations or national banks, from any person contributing funds on behalf of another person, from a federal government contractor, or from a foreign national who lacks permanent resident status. Contributions are not deductible for federal income tax purposes.
Federal election law requires political committees to use best efforts to report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 during an election cycle. An individual may not contribute more than a total of $2500 per election to the committee.
"Federal Government Contractor" - Employees of federal contractors are allowed to donate. Per the FEC website (emphasis mine):
Federal government contractors may not make contributions to influence Federal elections. For example, if you are a consultant under contract to a Federal agency, you may not contribute to Federal candidates or political committees. Or, if you are the sole proprietor of a business with a Federal government contract, you may not make contributions from personal or business funds. But, if you are merely employed by a company (or partnership) with Federal government contracts, you are permitted to make contributions from your personal funds.
